The new is out and Yes,the news is huge. Microsoft and Nokia are joining hands to compete with google in the smart phone market. As far as Microsoft is concerned it doesn’t need hundreds of thousands of apps for Windows Phone to succeed. The platform is just enough of them. Compared to Android Market and App Store, 20,000 doesn’t seem like much. They offer more than 200,000 and App Store 450,000 apps, respectively so that’s a good start!.
Under this shell of merger , Nokia seeks to meet from the Windows Phone OS, innovative technologies being implemented in the new smartphones and has joined forces with Microsoft in trying to regain ground lost to the iPhone and Android-based devices.
Microsoft’s chief executive Steve Ballmer was present at the launch, underlining the importance of the deal to the computing giant.

Soon Nokia is also going to launch their tablets where Windows may not be the exclusive operating system for Nokia tablets though.
This merger is a boon for the developers as they have between them solved one of the most pesky questions for developers in recent times – the third platform question.
